Two massive boxes donated on his deathbed in 1901 by a prominent Czech professor and expert in plants and their poisons are now at the center of a public debate. The Czech National Museum is calling for the public to help it decide whether the mysterious boxes should be scanned — and at least some of their mysterious contents revealed — although the deathbed donor said they shouldn’t be opened until 2101.
