Jihlava, South Moravia, Aug 9 (CTK) – Austrian Armin Kugler won the Czech part of the Eurojack European cup contested by lumberjacks from six European countries at the weekend.
Kugler has thus become the European champion in the sport. The second place went to Czech David Sila.
Jihlava hosted the third, final race of this year’s season, preceded by events in Austria and Germany.
The race was held in Jihlava for the fourth time, but the final for the first time.
Along with Czechs, there were lumberjacks from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and France.
Despite the tremendous heat, they were encouraged by about 3000 spectators.
In the Saturday qualifier, 19 racers fought for the participation in the final. Eleven of them advanced to it along with another seven racers who had been leading this year’s Eurojack series.
During this afternoon, the racers competed in six disciplines, using chainsaws and axes.
One woman, Yolanda Hagmann from Switzerland, competed, too, but she did not advance to the final.
