Prague, Aug 11 (CTK) – There were 87,588 recipients of pensions from the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSZ) in 87 foreign countries at the end of last year, the CSSZ said in a press release on Thursday.

As usual, most of the money was sent to Slovakia, Germany and Poland, but there were also recipients in such countries as Fiji and Madagascar.

The number of recipients of Czech pensions living abroad has been growing by the year.

“Compared with the period three years ago, the figure rose by over 10,000 by the end of last year,” CSSZ spokeswoman Jana Buranova said.

Slovakia dominated among the recipients with 28,702 persons entitled to a pension from the Czech Republic. It is followed by Germany and Poland.

Several thousand pensioners with a claim to a pension from the Czech Republic also live in Canada, Switzerland, the USA, Austria, Australia, Bulgaria, Greece and Sweden.

“On the other hand, Czech pensions were only sent to less than 1,000 recipients in France or Britain,” Buranova said.
