Prague, March 18 (CTK) – Czech pop singer Karel Gott’s malignant tumorous disease has fully disappeared, Gott’s spokeswoman Aneta Stolzova told CTK on Friday, referring to the results of Friday’s medical check-up.

Doctors treated Gott, 76, since last November when they diagnosed Non-Hodgkin lymphoma with him.

Gott underwent the planned final examination in a hospital on Friday.

There was a magnetic resonance and computer tomography check-up, Stolzova said.

“I am tremendously happy because Friday’s results have enhanced my hope that I will return to the life,” Gott said in a press release.

“Now I am before a very important convalescence. I will be regularly going to check-ups to the hospital,” he added.

“I am looking forward to start rehabilitating my voice. Taking into account my illness, I will have to determine what I will be able to do,” Gott said.

At the end of February, Gott underwent the last, sixth chemotherapy.

The disease was uncovered during urgent abdominal surgery in early November and doctors immediately started targeted oncological treatment in the General University Hospital in Prague.

“It is my ambition to return to the stage in such a form in which people know me and rightly expect,” Gott said.

“I do not want to be regretted and I do not want my performance to be tolerated with the excuse that it was affected by the illness,” he added.

“Until then, I will enjoy my time along with my family,” Gott said.

Gott has stayed at the top of Czech pop music for half a century and also has a number of fans abroad, mainly in Germany (“die goldene Stimme aus Prag”).

He is the winner of 40 Golden or Czech Nightingale top pop singer prizes awarded in Czechoslovakia and in the Czech Republic.

In 2015, he became the Absolute Nightingale of 2015 and received a special Platinum Nightingale award.

Former Czech president Vaclav Klaus decorated Gott with a state award for contribution to Czech culture in 2009.
