Prague, Dec 23 (CTK) – One of the drivers of two trams that collided in the Strasnice neighbourhood in Prague on Saturday was tested positive for drugs, Prague police spokesman Tomas Hulan has told CTK.
Five people, four women and a man, suffered light injuries in the accident, in particular bruises. They were transferred to hospitals for treatment, Prague Emergency service spokeswoman Jana Postova told CTK.
A test has proven the content of amphetamine and methamphetamine (pervitin hard drug) in one of the driver’s blood, Hulan said.
The driver is suspected of endangering the public under the influence of an addictive substance when on duty. If found guilty, he faces up to three years in prison, Hulan added.
The tram operation around the scene of the accident, in street V Olsinach, was interrupted for some 30 minutes when trams were replaced by a special bus line. The operation resumed at 11:46, the Prague Transport Company wrote on its website.
