Poor Max Brod. The writer and editor was recently honored by the unveiling of a plaque at his birthplace at 25 Haštalská Street in Prague. Despite Brod’s status as a centerpiece of Prague literature in his day and his prolific output, amounting to more than 20 books in virtually every genre imaginable, from fiction to music appreciation, he is today known mostly as Franz Kafka’s best friend, a status which has been cast in bronze on his plaque.
