Brno, Sept 3 (CTK) – The Czech police have released around 50 out of some 230 Syrian migrants who asked for asylum in Hungary from Czech refugee facilities yesterday, foreigner police spokeswoman Katerina Rendlova has told CTK.
The police drove some of them to railway stations, while others went there by themselves. It is up to them to decide on whether they will continue to Hungary or Germany, Rendlova said.
“All of them will be informed on being able to ask for asylum in the Czech Republic,” she added.
The police organise the departure of Syrians from facilities in Zastavka near Brno, south Moravia, Vysni Lhoty, north Moravia, and Bela-Jezova, central Bohemia.
The Interior Ministry prepared the necessary documents for 69 Syrian citizens on Wednesday. This and next week, 30 to 40 migrants could be released daily.
Rendlova could not say by when all Syrians will be able to leave the migrant facilities.
If the migrants do not use the chance to apply for asylum in the Czech Republic, they must leave the country within seven days, Rendlova said.
To prevent any conflicts between the foreigners and Czechs, the police will ensure the Syrians’ transfer from the refugee centres to railway stations, she said.
On Thursday, the Czech Republic stopped detaining Syrians who asked for asylum in Hungary in its detention facilities.
The Czech Republic is getting ready for a refugee influx. A tent camp with a capacity of 300 beds has been formed in Breclav-Postorna in south Moravia through which the refugees from Hungary and Austria enter the Czech Republic.
