Hradec Kralove, East Bohemia, Nov 12 (CTK) – Twenty-seven soldiers from the 15th engineer regiment and Military Medical Agency left for Maribor yesterday, travelling by railway along with their vehicles and other equipment, to help Slovenian armed forces deal with problems related to the migrant wave.
The Czech soldiers will operate in Slovenia by mid-December, Military Medical Agency spokeswoman Lada Kovarova said.
She said they are to arrive in Maribor on Saturday morning.
The soldiers will be deployed in Slovenia within the Bled 2015 military exercise.
The soldiers will have several lorries, for transport and doctors, and an ambulance vehicle.
Defence Minister Martin Stropnicky said previously the deployment of the troops in Slovenia would cost approximately four million crowns.
Earlier this week, 20 Czech police officers started protecting the Schengen border for five weeks in the Dobova and Obrezje areas in Slovenia.
Several dozen of Czech police and soldiers have already been helping protect the Schengen border in Hungary.
In the last two weeks, Slovenia started facing a strong influx of refugees at its border after Hungary closed its borders with Serbia and Croatia.
