Prague/Istanbul, Jan 12 (CTK) – Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka categorically condemned the bomb attack, in which ten people were killed and 15 injured, in the centre of Istanbul yesterday.
“This inhuman and cowardly act is a manifestation of terrorism in its most brutal form,” Sobotka said in his statement about the suicide bomber’s attack.
Nine of the victims and probably also nine of the injured are German tourists.
According to information from Czech embassies, no Czech citizens are among the people killed or wounded in the explosion, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Michaela Lagronova said.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said the perpetrator was a 28-year-old Syrian citizen.
Security sources unofficially blame Islamic State (IS) for the attack.
