Prague, Jan 14 (CTK) – Josef Jandac, now coach of the Extraleague Sparta Praha bluc and the Czech national hockey team assistant, will become the team’s coach as from next season, replacing Vladimir Vujtek Sr., the executive committee of the Ice Hockey Association (CSLH) decided yesterday.
The committee appointed the future national team coach well before the next season mainly with view to the World Cup to be contested in Canada in September.
Jandac will sign a two-year contract with the CSLH. “He will work exclusively with the national team,” CSLH head Tomas Kral said in a press release, adding that Jandac’s first task will be to prepare together with his assistants a World Cup roster.
The World Cup participants must announce the first part of the team – 16 players – by March 1. The final selection of 23 players must be ready by June 1.
Still in December, CSLH representatives claimed that Vujtek will be assigned to form the initial roster together with his assistants, including Jandac.
