Prague, March 7 (CTK) – The international premiere of the Belgian film No Man Is an Island opened the 18th festival of documentary films on human rights, One World, in Prague today.
The film features a Tunisian, Omar, and a Ghanaian, Adam, who got to the Italian island of Lampedusa.
The international festival will last in Prague until March 16. Afterwards, it will tour 32 other Czech towns and will be also taken to Brussels.
A total of 26 films will have their world or European premiere at the festival. Three of them are Czech and Slovak.
The festival will offer 123 films from 62 countries focussed on the theme of home.
Its organisers believe that emphasis on home can subdue the emotions that have surrounded the issue of migration in the Czech Republic since last summer.
The festival audiences will have an opportunity to meet more than 100 foreign filmmakers, film heroes and other guests.
One of them will be an Afghan girl, the hero of the film Sonita, who escaped an arranged marriage thanks to rap.
The festival has a new category, Among the Species, focused on dialogue between man and animals, artificial intelligence and robots.
Two robots with human features, developed by scientists at Amsterdam University College as companions for lonely seniors, will be shown in the Czech Republic.
