Prague, March 15 (CTK) – The Czech and Polish presidents, Milos Zeman, 71, and Adrzej Duda, 43, exchanged supreme state orders – Zeman decorated Duda with the Order of White Lion and he received the Order of White Eagle from him at Prague Castle, the presidential seat, yesterday.
Duda is one of the youngest holders of this order that his predecessors, Lech Kaczynski, Lech Walesa and Aleksander Kwasniewski, received in the past.
The presidents also appreciated the development of Czech-Polish relations.
Duda paid a visit to the Czech Republic seven months after being elected head of state.
During a meeting at Prague Castle, Duda and Zeman talked about the cooperation in the Visegrad Group (V4) comprised of the Czech Republic and Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, the migrant crisis and bilateral relations that both presidents consider excellent.
Duda thanked Zeman for the Polish minority enjoying good living conditions in the Czech Republic.
Afterwards, Zeman hosted a luncheon for the Polish presidential couple at Prague Castle that was also attended by the chairman of the upper house of parliament, Milan Stech (CSSD), and Zeman’s predecessor Vaclav Klaus.
In the afternoon, Duda is to meet Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (CSSD) and, along with his wife, he will lay a wreath at the grave of the first Czechoslovak and Czech post-communist president, Vaclav Havel.
Duda arrived in the Czech Republic on Monday evening when he met the Polish community representatives at the Polish Embassy in Prague.
