U.S. film Anomalisa wins main prize at Czech Anifilm festival

Trebon, South Bohemia, May 8 (CTK) – Anomalisa, a U.S. film directed by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson, won the main prize at the international competition of feature films for adults, Anifilm, yesterday and Phantom Boy directed by Alaina Gagnol and Jean-Loup Felicioli won the competition of feature films for children.
Anifilm started on Tuesday and it ends yesterday.
David Coquard-Dassault won the main prize for his entry Peripheria in the competition of short films.
A special mention went to Irish director Jack O’Shea for his film A Coat Made Dark.
More than 27,000 people saw the screenings and accompanying programmes, spokeswoman Gabriela Zajicova said.
She said more than 1000 film professionals took part in the festival. As many as 142 films competed in seven competition sections, ten of them were feature films, 34 short films, 41 student films, 25 competed in the category of abstract and non-narrative animation and 19 were video clips.
According to experts, Anifilm is one of ten leading world events of its kind.
Audiences could see works by prominent authors, including Charlie Kaufman, Adam Elliot, Theodore Ushev and Ihor Kovalev.
