Prague, Oct 10 (CTK) – The Czech Republic flew another humanitarian aid to Syria on Sunday, following up the shipment worth three million crowns in June, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Michaela Lagronova has told CTK.
The CASA military transport plane sent several dialysis units, wheelchairs and dried milk from the state material reserves to the country ravaged by a civil war, Lagronova said, adding that other flights will follow in the days to come.
The aid will be delivered to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
Deputy Foreign Minister Lukas Kaucky left with this shipment for Syria, Lagronova said, adding that he was scheduled to meet Syrian official representatives in the days to come.
In April, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa and Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad discussed Czech special humanitarian aid to Syria in two shipments worth roughly four million crowns.
The health material was to be transported to conflict zones with poor accessibility.
In June, the Czech government approved an aid worth a total of 195 million crowns to humanitarian, development and reconstruction projects, to be delivered by 2019.
The aid is to mainly go in support of education and renovation of healthcare, school and social facilities.
Between 2012 and 2015, the Czech Foreign Ministry spent over 100 million crowns on humanitarian aid to Syria and Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries from its humanitarian aid budget.
