Prague, Nov 21 (CTK) – A special lorry commemorating the church Reformation, which is touring 19 European countries, will stop in Prague yesterday, Jana Vondrova, from the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, has told CTK.
The lorry will end its trip in Wittenberg, Germany, which is considered the birthplace of the European Reformation.
The public can visit the lorry, which arrives from Vienna, at Jan Palach Square outside the Rudolfinum concert hall from 18:00 yesterday and on Tuesday till the evening.
Daniel Zenaty, senior member of the church synod, will return back to history and interview Czech church reformer John Huss, who was burnt at stake for heresy in 1415, or rather his wooden puppet in a special performance, Vondrova said about the opening programme in the “Reformation Lorry” in Prague.
Representatives of German churches, who accompany the lorry on the route, will also join a discussion, she added.
The lorry will leave Prague on Tuesday evening.
On Tuesday afternoon, it will offer a programme for school children. They will learn not only about changes in the church, but they can also taste the favourite meal of church reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546), try the 16th-century fashion and play the period music instruments.
People can also see short films from all places where the lorry has stopped on its route, including a three-minute film on Prague and the Czech Reformation, Huss (c. 1372-1415) and his follower Jerome of Prague (1379-1416) who was also accused of heresy and died at stake.
