Strasbourg, Nov 22 (CTK correspondent) – Pavel Svoboda, Czech chairman of the European Parliament’s legal committee, and Prague Charles University Rector Tomas Zima opened an exhibition on Charles IV, the 14th-century Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia, in the EP’s Strasbourg seat yesterday.
The 700th anniversary of Charles’ birth fell on May 14, 2016.
Charles IV, son of John of Luxembourg and Eliska, princess from the Czech Premyslid royal dynasty, was a genuine European leader who united Europe. His political, ideological and cultural legacy is still visible all over Europe, Zima said in the opening speech.
Later he told CTK that the exhibition, which has been travelling in various language versions across Europe, has been prepared by Charles University in cooperation with the Prague-based National Gallery.
