Mobile operators have rolled out fresh mobile tariff options tailored for the younger demographic. The plans kick off at CZK 487 per month, featuring unlimited data, while the most budget-friendly option for customers under 26 years old starts at just CZK 299. Standard unlimited data tariffs commence at approximately CZK 750.
O2 unveiled four new offerings labeled under “YOU” on Monday. The most economical choice, priced at CZK 299, incorporates 120 minutes of cross-network calling and three gigabytes (GB) of data. For an additional CZK 200, users can upgrade to a tariff with limitless calls and ten GB of data, or for CZK 699, they can access a tariff with unlimited data and speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s. Opting for unlimited 5G speed costs an extra CZK 200.
Silvia Cieslarová, O2’s Mobile Services Segment Director, highlighted the surging demand for unlimited data on the fastest 5G networks, particularly among younger customers. Mobile network data consumption is experiencing rapid year-on-year growth.
Last week, Vodafone introduced three new plans offering unlimited data, calls, and SMS, varying only in download speed. Students with an ISIC card can subscribe for CZK 487 per month for a basic speed of four Mbit/s, CZK 657 for 20 Mbit/s, or CZK 857 for unrestricted speed.
T-Mobile has not launched any recent offers, but their current options begin at CZK 480, providing ten GB of data and unrestricted calling. The other two options, priced at 700 and 905 CZK, offer limitless data. The more economical of the two has speeds capped at ten Mbit/s after consuming the first 15 GB. Children up to 15 years old can access 150 minutes of calls and three GB of data for CZK 275.
The Czech Republic boasts around 15.2 million active SIM cards, with data traffic in domestic mobile networks soaring by 60 percent year-on-year to reach 926 petabytes last year, as reported by the CTU. This equates to an average monthly data consumption of approximately seven gigabytes per SIM card.
