Prague, June 22 (CTK) – U.S. film star Richard Gere will receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema at the 50th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, west Bohemia, festival director Jiri Bartoska told journalists yesterday.
The festival will be held between July 3 and 11.
It will be opened by Time Out of Mind by film director Oren Moverman, with Richard Gere in the lead role.
The film describes the life of a homeless man in New York.
Harvey Keitel, who received the prize for outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema in Karlovy Vary in 2004, will return to the festival in the film Youth by Paolo Sorrentino.
Keitel plays the lead role along with Michael Caine in the film.
The festival will be ended by Leslye Headland’s Sleeping with Other People.
Bartoska said the Karlovy Vary Region sponsored the festival with seven million crowns, becoming its partner this year.
Film director Jamie Ellis along with actor Jamie Dornan will come to the festival to unveil the film Anthropoid, he added.
The U.S. script writer, director and producer George A. Romero, creator of the Night of the Living Dead, will unveil the latest version of the The Tales of Hoffmann, artistic director Karel Och said.
