The project to support small regional suppliers called BILLA regionálně was launched in February 2015 and BILLA has introduced it to 116 stores in the past year. At present it cooperates with more than 150 small primary producers from which it buys more than 1,000 regional items. Since the launch of the project it has sold more than 25 million regional specialties. This was stated for ČIANEWS by PR manager Lucie Borovičková, who added that at present Czech foods account for more than 75 % of the total and that this share will continue to increase. BILLA has been addressing Czech producers in cooperation with the Czech Agrarian Chamber for a number of years.
