O2 Czech Republic generated operating revenues totalling CZK 9.03bn in Q1 2016, down 1.3% y/y. EBITDA grew 5.3% to CZK 2.50bn. Net profit soared 16.2% to CZK 1.24bn. The operator’s mobile customer base dropped 2.5% to 4.88 million. The firm boosted its position in the segments of O2 TV digital television, mobile data and in Slovakia. O2 Czech Republic’s board of directors chairman and general director Tomáš Budník has stated that the company aims to compensate with the new activities the negative impact of European roaming regulation and long-term unsustainable price trends in the corporate segment.
