A demand from a notorious US litigator that the Czech Republic’s biggest and most famous spa town honor almost 70-year-old bonds and pay out around USD 500 million has been rejected out of hand by the Czech Ministry of Finance. The demand, which threatened to bankrupt the west Bohemian city of Karlovy Vary, was made by US lawyer Ed Fagan in the middle of the month.
