Hradec Kralove, East Bohemia, Sept 5 (CTK) – A replica of the German World War Two Messerschmitt Me-262 plane was the biggest attraction on the first day of this year’s two-day international air show CIAF, its spokesman Tomas Otruba has told CTK, adding that thousands of people came to see it.
The plane has modern avionics and it was made in the United States ten years ago. Its owner is Messerschmitt’s foundation in Munich.
The visitors could meet a military history fan who owns a flying suit of the fighter’s pilot, Lukas Vajdik, from the military club in Dobrany, west Bohemia, told CTK.
“The uniform was heated because temperatures in the altitude of eight kilometres were minus 30 degrees centigrade. It was found in an attic in Plzen (west Bohemia) together with correspondence of the pilot who died in hospital in 1945,” Vajdik said.
Visitors to the event also saw a Belgian plane F-16 with its original camouflage and a MIG-15 UTI, a BN-2 Islander, JAS-39 Gripens and L-159 planes.
The Military Institute presented drones that are mainly used by firefighters and police as well as farmers, foresters and Czech soldiers in the Afghan Province of Bagram.
Last year, the show organised since 2002 was seen by some 45,000 people during two days.
