Ceska Trebova, East Bohemia, Dec 10 (CTK) – Czech and Polish towns along the border plan to build over 200 km of one-way cycling paths known as singletracks, with the aid of EU subsidies, according to an agreement the participating towns signed yesterday.
They will seek subsidies from the EU funds within the cross-border cooperation programme, Ceska Trebova Mayor Jaroslav Zednik told CTK.
As the first phase of the project, the Czech association of towns and villages in the area is preparing 40 km of singletracks and 25 km of mountain bike tracks, Zednik said.
The documents related to the project are being completed. The construction may start next autumn, he said.
The cycling paths on the Czech and Polish sides of the border will be interconnected.
Apart from Ceska Trebova, the Czech towns involved are Chocen and Moravska Trebova, and the Polish participants are Bardo, Miejska Klodzko, Bystrzyca Klodzka, Klodzko, Ladek Zdroj, Miedzylesie, Stronie Slaskie a Zloty Stok.
