Prague, Jan 10 (CTK) – Czech actress Alena Mihulova has won the best actress award for her main role in the Czech film Home Care (Domaci pece, 2015) by Slavek Horak at the U.S film festival in Palm Springs, Gabina Vagnerova, on behalf of the film-makers, told CTK yesterday.
Mihulova, 50, also won the Crystal Globe Award for this role at the 50th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, west Bohemia, last July, and the best actress prize from the NASK academy of cinema operators.
Mihulova could not attend the award-giving ceremony in Palm Springs on Saturday since she was shooting a series for the public Czech Television (CT).
Home Care, in which Mihulova appeared in the main role of the selfless nurse Vlasta, received several awards at foreign festivals last year.
Its director and scriptwriter Horak was given the 10 Directors to Watch award in the United States. The film was also nominated for the Czech Film Critics’ Awards in five categories. They will be presented on January 23.
