Prague, Oct 14 (CTK) – The Ceska posta (CP) postal services company has issued a special postage stamp shaped as a flying national flag instead of having a traditional rectangular shape, CP spokesman Matyas Vitik told CTK yesterday.
“Only the bottom line of the stamp has traditional notching, but it is irregular this time. The remaining three sides are atypical and the whole stamp looks like a flying Czech flag,” Vitik added.
The stamp was designed by Pavel Hrach.
The self-adhesive stamps was issued in four million pieces, while its reprinting is possible in case of a high interest.
It exists only in the “A” price category, which means for letters within the Czech Republic, weighing up to 50 grammes. It costs 13 crowns and can be bought at CP branches or on its website.
The CP issued another unusually shaped stamp last November. The first ever round stamp features a silhouette of the fictitious Czech universal genius Jara Cimrman of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His legacy is kept alive for decades through the popular performances of the Jara Cimrman Theatre in Prague.
