Prague, Sept 14 (CTK) – Six Czech authors started writing a detective story online yesterday, taking turns in non-stop writing the book that they plan to complete in the Neoluxor bookshop window in the city centre in 72 hours.
The story called Sest nevinnych (The Six Innocent) should be written by September 17 and published in three weeks after the authors Jiri W. Prochazka, Josef Pecinovsky, David Zabransky, Lukas Vavrecka, Jan Svitak and Premysl Krejcik complete the text.
All the six authors won the prestigious Czech literary prize Magnesia Litera or they were nominated for it.
Prochazka said this project developed the idea started by Svitak who had written a book in a Brno bookshop in 46 hours four years ago.
People visiting the bookshop in the Quadrio shopping centre and the passers-by in the street outside the shop window can watch the authors writing the book. A proofreader will be present, too.
The text can be read on the website www.sestnevinnych.cz as it is being written and corrected. On Thursday, the text will be deleted from the website and the Pavel Mervart publishing house will issue the book in October.
“It is time for the Czech detective story to succeed along with the Scandinavian stories,” Prochazka said.
