Prague, July 15 (CTK) – The fifth Made in Prague touring festival presenting the latest Czech films started in Britain on July 7 and it will run through September 17, Denisa Strbova, from the Czech Film Centre, told CTK yesterday.
The festival is held in 23 cinemas in 15 British towns, she added.
“Similar to the previous years, the event is a result of our cooperation with the Czech Centre in London and the British chain Picturehouse Cinemas,” Strbova said.
The aim of the festival is to present Czech cinematography and get the British public acquainted with Czech culture through selected high-quality films.
For the British audience, the festival is almost the only chance to see Czech films, Strbova added.
This year, Made in Prague offers five successful Czech films produced in the past two years, such as Fair Play directed by Andrea Sedlackova, Nowhere in Moravia (Dira u Hanusovic) by Miroslav Krobot, The Burning Bush (Horici ker) by Agnieszka Holland, winner of the best Czech film in 2013, as well as Jan Hrebejk’s Honeymoon (Libanky) and a documentary by Martin Dusek, Into the Clouds We Gaze (K oblakum vzhlizime), which won a section at the International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava, south Moravia.
The last two films were selected for the Discover Tuesdays programme within which an exceptional Czech feature film and a documentary are screened simultaneously in all cinemas of the Picturehouse Cinemas network in Britain.
Director Dusek personally introduced his film in two cinemas in London, Picturehouse Central and the Clapham Picturehouse, at the festival’s opening on July 7.
