Prague, Sept 21 (CTK) – U.S. experimental film director Bill Morrison will present his films, including this year’s The Dockworker’s Dream and Little Orphan Annie in world premieres, at the 20th International Documentary Film Festival Ji.hlava that will be held on October 25-30.
Another guest to the festival will be Icelandic filmmaker Fridrik Thor Fridriksson.
The programme of the six-day festival, which is traditionally held in the town of Jihlava, south Moravia, will include sections on Icelandic cinematography and on the Russian film avant-garde.
To remember the 20-year history of the festival, each year will be represented by one iconic film, including works by Chantal Akerman, Harun Farocki, Mike Hoolboom, Albert Serra, Alexander Sokurov and Karel Vachek, Ji.hlava director Marek Hovorka said.
Two weeks before the festival, an exhibition of its history and on documentary film will be opened, Hovorka said.
He said the festival will also be visited by U.S. psychologist Philip Zimbardo, known for his Stanford prison experiment that challenges the view that war crimes are mostly committed by mentally disordered people.
During his visit to the Czech Republic, Zimbardo will receive an honorary doctorate at Charles University, participate in the Forum 2000 conference and support the memorial to the Holocaust that is being built at the Prague-Bubny former train station, Hovorka said.
The festival jingle has been made by Austrian filmmaker Johann Lurf and Armenian film director Artavazd Peleshyan who were both awarded at the Ji.hlava festival.
