Louny/Bilina/Lovosice, North Bohemia, Dec 8 (CTK) – The Czech Republic, most probably Prague, will be hit by a terrorist attack of Islamic radicals sooner or later, President Milos Zeman said during his visit to the northern Usti Region yesterday.
In a discussion meeting with grammar school students in Bilina, he said terrorism must be fought against.
When asked about a possible attack in the Czech Republic, he said he bases his view on the way Islamic radicals made their previous attacks in European countries, he said.
In this connection he mentioned the attacks in London, Madrid, and most recently in Paris. These attacks enable to trace out the terrorists´ typical behaviour, Zeman said.
“Sooner or later, a terrorist attack will occur in the Czech Republic as well. Probably in Prague, judging by their [Islamic radicals´] modus operandi. However, I expect some more attacks to occur even sooner in London, Berlin, and possibly also other countries that the terrorists find more interesting than the Czech Republic, because in theses countries, the attacks arouse bigger panic,” Zeman said.
“I believe that the fight against terrorism must be far more radical and effective [than now], including the expulsion of suspicious persons from the country,” he said.
Zeman also visited Lovosice, where the D8 motorway ends. This motorway is to connect Prague and Dresden and it has been under construction for many years.
Addressing a crowd of about 250 people, Zeman said he believes that the last incomplete section of D8, the one crossing the Central Bohemian Uplands, will be opened at the end of 2016.
In the town of Louny, the number of people interested in a discussion meeting with Zeman exceeded the capacity of the local theatre building where the meeting was held.
Zeman is to close his three-day visit to the Usti Region on Wednesday.
