Prague, March 8 (CTK) – Police have caught in Prague centre based on a European arrest warrant a man, suspected of violent crime, who faces 23 years in prison in Slovakia, David Schoen, spokesman for the Police Presidium, writes on the police web page yesterday.
The man was hiding in the Czech Republic for six years, working in a security agency and selling drugs.
The Czech police caught him at the end of last week. “The dangerous perpetrator of violent crime was hiding in the Czech Republic probably from 2010. Only last September, a Slovak court issued a European warrant for his arrest and he was included in the list of the most wanted persons in Europe,” Schoen said.
He would not elaborate on the crimes for which the warrant for his arrest was issued.
The web list of the most wanted European criminals carries information about the arrest of a 35-year-old man, suspected of blackmail and extortion and participation in organised crime.
Paradoxically, the man worked for a security agency. “During his hiding of many years, the man used successfully forged personal documents,” Schoen said.
In addition to the formal job, the man also earned money selling drugs. “He had 40 packets of drug on him when arrested,” Schoen said.
The man will be handed to Slovak authorities in the weeks to come.
