Prague, Jan 12 (CTK) – The Czech Centres organisation, a network of cultural institutions that the Foreign Ministry established to promote the country abroad, will focus on the presentation of the results of Czech science in the world this year, its spokeswoman Petra Jungwirthova has told CTK.
She said the Czech Centres will also deepen cooperation with universities and with the CzechTourism state-run agency.
Czech Centres head Zdenek Lycka said more attention needs to be paid to the sphere of science, research and innovations.
“We have many inventions and inventors that are little known abroad. We will set up exhibitions about them, present young scientists. We simply must export Czech science,” Lycka said.
The richest programmes are planned in Berlin, Kiev, Madrid, Munich, Sofia, Vienna and Warsaw. In Rio de Janeiro, Czech innovations in sports will be presented in connection with the Summer Olympics.
In 2016, the Czech Centres wants to systematically present the young generations of artists and newly revealed talents and winners of art competitions.
Festivals of Czech films and exhibitions of Czech photographs will be organised like in the previous years. A presentation of the 21 years of the Czech Press Photo competition will be one of the events.
Czech producers of music instruments will be promoted, too.
An exhibition on Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, marking his 700th birth anniversary, will be held in Berlin, Madrid, Milan, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo and The Hague.
Another exhibition will recall the 80th birth anniversary of the late president Vaclav Havel, dissident and playwright. The current Czech presidency of the Visegrad Group, including also Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, will be made the centre of attention as well.
The Czech Centres now has offices in 22 foreign cities. Apart from European cities, it has seats in Seoul and Tokyo, Tel Aviv and New York.
