Prague, Jan 18 (CTK) – The pilot caused the accident of a Czech military helicopter in which five people were wounded during a NATO exercise in Spain in November 2015, the commission of investigation has found out, daily Lidove noviny (LN) writes yesterday.
The pilot has been suspended and he is being investigated by the military police, LN writes.
“The accident of the helicopter occurred during a very arduous manoeuvre preceding parachuting,” the commission wrote in its report.
Defence Minister Martin Stropnicky said previously the pilot was experienced with 4600 flight hours.
The accident of the Mi-171S helicopter took place some 15 kilometres away from Zaragoza on November 5. It carried five crew members and 11 soldiers from a special forces group.
Five people aboard were taken to the local hospital.
The state-of-the-art helicopter that turned on its side after the fall was damaged beyond repair. The damage is unofficially put at 80 to 100 million crowns,
