Prague, Oct 1 (CTK) – Deputy Prime Minister Andrej Babis (ANO) and Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD) keep the position of the most popular Czech leading politicians, according to the latest CVVM agency’s poll released to CTK yesterday.
Babis was trusted by 53 percent of Czechs and Sobotka by 49 percent. But compared to the previous poll carried out in May, the trust in the ANO leader and the CSSD leader fell by 2 and 4 percentage points, respectively.
Confidence in other leading politicians was markedly lower. Among them, people trusted Christian Democrat (junior government KDU-CSL) deputy chairwoman Zuzana Roithova and CSSD deputy chairman and Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek the most (34 percent).
Babis, Sobotka and Roithova are the only of the 29 politicians included in the poll with positive assessments prevailing over negative ones.
TOP 09 chairman Karel Schwarzenberg, who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2013, is the most popular opposition politician (33 percent). KDU-CSL leader Pavel Belobradek is trusted by 31 percent.
The clearly most negative figure seems to be TOP 09 deputy head Miroslav Kalousek, former right-wing finance minister, who is mistrusted by 84 percent.
Other rather negatively assessed politicians are Communist (opposition KSCM) leader Vojtech Filip, Civic Democrat (right-wing opposition ODS) chairman Petr Fiala, small populist Freedom and Direct Democracy head Tomio Okamura and Schwarzenberg.
Okamura improved his position since the previous poll, however. Last year, Okamura was rather popular, but then his Dawn movement started disintegrating and split.
The poll was conducted on 994 people aged over 15 years in early September.
