Prague, Aug 2 (CTK) – President Milos Zeman wants the parliament to debate the issue of accepting migrants in the Czech Republic, his spokesman Jiri Ovcacek told reporters yesterday.
Zeman does not agree with any admission of refugees, Ovcacek added.
Zeman has expressed his negative stance on uncontrolled migration repeatedly.
“Our country simply cannot afford to risk such terrorist attacks that occurred in France and Germany. In other words, by accepting migrants, we would create a base for barbarian attacks on the territory of the Czech Republic,” Ovcacek said, conveying Zeman’s stance.
Zeman does not agree with the admission of 80 migrants from refugee camps in Turkey and with the total number of 2691 migrants whom the Czech Republic pledged to accept, Ovcacek said.
Lawmakers, MPs and senators, should comment on the issue, according to Zeman.
“In the president’s opinion, any admission of migrants should be debated in the parliament of the Czech Republic first,” Ovcacek said.
He also said the inflow of migrants was “fully uncontrollable and uncontrolled.”
“It means that for the moment we are not able to distinguish economic migrants from war refugees, which can be seen in Germany. This became apparent in the case of the terrorist attacks,” Ovcacek said.
He added that the Czech Republic should not accept refugees any more and that Zeman’s words call on the government members preparing the measure for their accepting migrants.
