Prague, July 1 (CTK) – Not only European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker, but all senior representatives of the EU are responsible for Brexit, Czech President Milos Zeman told the Impuls radio station Friday.
Zeman specifically named chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk and EU Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini.
The EU top leadership bears collective responsibility for the EU and “no one can be singled out from the responsibility,” he added.
“The EU was very, very passive, only giving useless advice to Britain that it should not leave, which angered many Britons,” Zeman said.
Zeman said earlier Britons had been deterred from EU membership mainly by its EU policy “supplying EU members by quite absurd decrees,” such as those about the uniform production of wax or ink for laser printers and uniform dimensions of tractor seats.
“No wonder that while the bureaucratic madmen produce such decrees, being unable to protect the EU outer border against a migrant wave, you feel disgusted at such a leadership of the project that is otherwise splendid and that you leave it,” Zeman said.
“In my view, this is the real basic cause of the Brexit,” Zeman added.
