President Václav Klaus has defended himself against accusations that he offended Greeks by dubbing them lazy ouzo drinkers, in an interview with a Czech newspaper. But Klaus says his general comments about the problems of the single currency euro-zone were not aimed directly at Greece. Whatever the version, Klaus’ comments about debt-burdened and deficit-challenged Greece have clearly offended.
