Prague, Dec 4 (CTK) – The ANO movement of Finance Minister Andrej Babis would win the general election if it were held now, far ahead of the runner-up Social Democrats (CSSD) of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, according to the latest TSN Aisa poll whose results public Czech Television (CT) presented yesterday.
ANO won support from 33.5 percent respondents, while the CSSD from 14 percent. The pollsters said the CSSD has been gradually losing voters in the long term.
The latest TSN Aisa poll indicated that seven Czech parties would enter parliament now, 11 months before the date of the regular elections.
The smallest of the three government parties, the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), won support from 7.5 percent of the respondents.
The right-wing opposition Civic Democrats (ODS) were supported by 9 percent, which is slightly more than the senior opposition Communists (KSCM) with 8.5 percent. The right-wing TOP 09 won 6 percent support, same as Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) of the populist Tomio Okamura.
Compared with the results of the late 2013 elections, ANO markedly improved its position, while the popularity of the Social Democrats, the Communists and TOP 09 dropped.
The poll was conducted in November among 868 respondents.
According to the latest CVVM poll, the gap between ANO and the CSSD would be smaller and the SPD would not enter parliament.
