Prague, Oct 11 (CTK) – Czech Finance Minister Andrej Babis (ANO) promised his government coalition partners to leave if the planned electronic sales register does not work, Deputy Prime Minister Pavel Belobradek, head of the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), said on public Czech Television (CT) today.

He added that seven months following the enacting of the relevant law will suffice to prepare the introduction of the system, including certain technicalities.

The prepared electronic sales registration is sharply criticised by the opposition, mainly the rightist.

Petr Fiala, chairman of the opposition Civic Democrats (ODS), repeated on CT today that the opposition will do everything to prevent the passing of the bill.

He said it wants to attain this using “thorough argumentation” during the forthcoming third reading in the Chamber of Deputies, or obstructions.

Fiala said the opposition fears the law will harm self-employed people and small firms. On the other hand, it will help large companies because it will eliminate their competition, he added.

According to the Finance Ministry, the electronic sales registration should start to be operable as from the latter half of next year.
