Prague, Nov 15 (CTK) – The Labour and Social Affairs Ministry should focus on the consumer protection, modernisation of the investment incentives system and the support for high-speed Internet, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said after meeting Industry and Trade Minister Jan Mladek (Social Democrats, CSSD) yesterday.
Sobotka said it was a good thing that Mladek had improved the outward communication and that through the office, he had contributed to the economic growth.
Sobotka said it was vital for people to feel that the state was siding with them in consumer protection.
“We have improved legislation in the sphere of consumer protection, but we need the Czech Trade Inspection Authority to act more actively and to be modernised,” Sobotka said.
The new system of investment incentives should be based on the support for development, innovations and modernisation of the Czech Republic, he added.
“It should be based on our support for the manufacturing with a high value added,” Sobotka said.
Jobs should not be created at any cost irrespective of their financial remuneration. The incentives should be targeted on well-paid openings, he added.
The ministry’s economic policy has contributed to the positive economic growth and a fall in the jobless rate, Sobotka said.
A month ago, Mladek said he was ready to resign after he failed in the election to the Senate.
However, Sobotka has decided to leave him in the post.
Within an announced government reshuffle, Sobotka has sacked Health Minister Svatopluk Nemecek and Human Rights Minister Jiri Dienstbier(both CSSD) as of November 30.
