Prague, Jan 25 (CTK) – Finance Minister Andrej Babis’s ANO would win the election to the Czech Chamber of Deputies if it were held now in January, according to a poll conducted by the STEM polling institute and released yesterday.
The support for ANO and the Social Democrats (CSSD, another coalition government party) has increased, while that for the opposition TOP 09 has steeply fallen.
The poll ratings of the opposition Civic Democratic Party (ODS) and the Communists (KSCM) have not changed.
ANO would be now elected by 26.8 percent of Czechs, the Social Democrats by 21.7 percent.
Like in December, the KSCM would receive 14.1 percent of the vote and the ODS 8.7 percent.
The popularity of TOP 09 fell from 8.9 percent to 6.6 percent and that of Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL, third coalition government party) to 6.2 percent.
At present, ANO would have 70 members of the Chamber of Deputies, the CSSD 58 and the KDU-CSL 11. In all, the coalition government parties would have 139 votes in the 200-member upper house of parliament.
When it comes to the rest of the parties, the Freedom and Direct Democracy, headed by Tomio Okamura, would gain 4.4 percent of the vote and the Dawn-National Coalition 2.3 percent.
The Greens have slumped to 1.4 percent, their worst result in the past 18 months.
