Prague, March 29 (CTK) – Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka will attend a joint dinner of the heads delegations which U.S. President Barack Obama hosts ahead of the nuclear summit in Washington on Thursday, the Government Office told CTK yesterday.
Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD) will leave for a week-long visit to the USA on Wednesday.
He visited the White House already once in his capacity as Czech prime minister when he visited the United States for the first time in the autumn of 2014. He was received by Vice-President Joe Biden.
The nuclear security summit, to be visited by delegations from Britain, China, Germany and other countries, will be the main political event on the agenda of Sobotka’s forthcoming journey.
The major goal of the summit is to enhance countries’ commitments in the area of nuclear security and promote measures to prevent nuclear terrorism.
The heads of the delegations from more than 50 participating countries and international institutions will meet on the eve of the summit in the White House.
The Czech Republic will be represented by Sobotka at the working dinner that is to focus on the perception of security threats.
Sobotka’s visit to Washington, where he will also have bilateral talks with participants in the summit, will be of a political character.
His schedule on the following days, when he will visit other cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco, will also focus on other issues. Sobotka will meet film makers, representatives of universities, think-tanks and expatriates’ groups.
