PCC won their sixth 40-over league in seven years, defeating 2013 champions Dresden by six wickets in Saturday’s final.

PCC’s well-rounded bowling attack never allowed Dresden to gain a foothold in the match, and when Rajh brilliantly ran out the dangerous Siva, the Germans were facing an uphill struggle.

Srini (33) batted well but he was dismissed at 107-7, and only some fearless late hitting from Rahul (14) dragged the total up to 130.

PCC lost both openers early, but captain Paul (30) came in and put on some quick runs to help reduce any tension. Prakash continued in the same vein, finishing unbeaten on 42 and leaving Honza to smash the winning boundary.

On Sunday the club welcomed tourists Aberystwyth University CC for a 40-over friendly in wonderful weather. PCC batted first and national team batsman Sudhir came in to smash 70 off 49 in pushing the total up to 231-9.

The tourists were never able to get going, but the match was played in a great spirit with both teams enjoying (and at times enduring!) the cloudless sky. James (4-16) was the pick of the PCC bowlers as AUCC ended 144-9 from their 40 overs.
