Czech athlete Zátopková successfully recovering from leg surgery

Prague, Oct 11 (CTK) – Czech javellin Olympic winner Dana Zatopkova, 94, who underwent femoral neck fracture surgery in September, has been recovering, is in a good psychical condition and she moved alone around her hospital bed leaning on a walking frame yesterday, Karel Engel, who looks after her, has said.
Zatopkova underwent the surgery in general anaesthesia on October 1. She spent a few days in intensive care and she will undergo rehabilitation of two months at least in the Military Hospital in Prague.
Afterwards, she could return home and move on a stick only.
Zatopkova scored her greatest triumph at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952. She is a widow of one of the famous Czech athletes, long-distance runner Emil Zatopek, who died in 2000.
They both were born on the same day, September 19, 1922.
