Prague, Oct 12 (CTK) – Czech double Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova along with Karolina Pliskova, Barbora Strycova and Lucie Hradecka have been nominated for the Fed Cup tennis tournament’s final against France, the women’ tennis team captain, Petr Pala, told reporters yesterday.
The final will be played in Strasbourg, France, on November 12-13.
Kvitova contributed to the Czech team’s victory in the Fed Cup in 2011, 2012 and 2014. She has returned to the team after a one-year break.
The team will be headed by Pliskova (5), a finalist of US Open this year. She became “a hero” of the Fed Cup final against Russia in Prague last year, when the Czechs scored their latest victory.
The Czechs with nine victories, also in 1975, 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1988 in former Czechoslovakia, are placed second after the most successful American team with 17 Fed Cup victories.
France has won the Fed Cup twice, last time 13 years ago.
