A dramatic cricketing weekend saw some major shifts in the local T20 league, while the first “Ashes” match between England and Australia produced an incredible finale which, for the first time ever, was available on live streaming for European viewers through YouTube.
The second Ashes match begins on Thursday. They play every day from 12:00 to 19:00 Czech time, and games and highlights can be found on youtube.com/ecbcricket. Czech Cricket is joining “Ashes Fever” with our own Ashes-themed Ambassador’s Day to be held on Saturday July 27th, where an England XI will battle with an Australia XI following the T20 League final.
That final will include Dresden (already the 40-over league champions) after they enjoyed a successful trip on Saturday, taking two victories although the second came down to the wire. With Barbarians requiring six runs from the last two balls, batsman Nick Taylor forced one away through the offside for four, but couldn’t get anything from the last ball and was run out to give Dresden victory by the slimmest margin. Srini was their man of the day, bowling that final ball after scoring 58 in their earlier convincing victory over a PCC 2nd XI team which included three Czech players.
Vinohrady were top of the league but their Sunday was a disaster, as the two losses they suffered put them out of the picture. PCC need one win from their last two games (next Saturday) to join Dresden in the final, with Bohemians hoping for a slip-up.
