Prague, Dec 21 (CTK) – Zuzana Hejnova, 400m hurdles world champion, has won the Czech Champoin of Sports 2015 poll for a second time after one-year pause and the Czech Fed Cup players won the teams competition, it was announced yesterday.
Members of the Club of Sport Journalists gave Hejnova, 29, a total of 1637 points. She was followed by speed-skater Martina Sablikova (1188) and biathlete Ondrej Moravec (1109).
The individuals´ poll was won by a woman for the 10th time in a row. The last male winner was Jaromir Jagr in 2005. He ended 8th this year.
Hejnova managed to return to the world´s top even though she was battling the consequences of a one-year pause caused by a leg fracture and a heel injury mainly in winter and in the spring.
In spite of this, she won this year´s overall standings in the Diamond League and at the World Championship in Beijing she defended her win from Moscow in 2013.
