Prague, Jan 25 (CTK) – The funeral of Czech Member of European Parliament Miloslav Ransdorf (Communists, KSCM) will take place in the Strasnice crematorium in Prague on Friday noon, the KSCM said on its webpage yesterday.
Ransdorf died suddenly at the age of 62 last Friday.
“We thank all those who will take leave of him either personally or by a silent remembrance,” the funeral notice said.
Ransdorf was a member of the Communist Party (formerly KSC, now KSCM) since 1972.
From the early 1990s on, he was a member of Czechoslovak parliament and from 1996 he was a member of the Czech Chamber of Deputies.
He was also a member of the European Parliament since 2004.
The KSCM said in its letter of condolences that with Ransdorf it had lost a political intellectual.
Even his political opponents spoke with respect about him, it added.
