Prague, Jan 26 (CTK) – A working team that is to complete a security audit of the Czech Republic at Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka’s request by the end of this year, held its first meeting at the Interior Ministry yesterday, Deputy Interior Minister Jiri Novacek told journalists.
Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD) initiated the audit in November in reaction to terrorist attacks and threats in Europe.
The first partial results of the audit are to be known by mid-2016, Novacek said.
He said the working team has about 30 members including himself and other representatives of ministries and authorities who are members of the National Security Council (BRS).
“Our task is to find out the way of functioning in practice and the results of the country’s security system defined by law as well as various strategic and concept documents,” Novacek said.
“We mainly want to know how effective [the security system] will be in various situations and various areas within the complex environment we live in,” Novacek said.
The security audit will have 11 chapters. They will relate to terrorism, extremism, negative aspects of migration, organised crime, stability of financial markets and banks, energy, industrial and raw material security, cyber security, the operation of foreign powers and also hybrid, natural and human threats, David Chovanec, who heads the ministry’s security department, said.
The audit is to assess the state’s ability of resisting threats in a new security situation.
It is also to check the relevant legislation and the most risky areas.
Interior Minister Milan Chovanec (CSSD) previously said external security specialists, including experts from universities, are to assist in drafting the audit.
