Prague, June 8 (CTK) – The Czech police want to start creating the National Centre Against Organised Crime with five special departments dealing with organised crime, terrorism, cyber crime, most serious economic crime and corruption, police President Tomas Tuhy told journalists yesterday.
If the plan is backed, it may start working as of 2020, Tuhy said.
The centre is to fight against organised crime from one place, he added.
Thanks to this, the work of the police is to be more efficient than now, Tuhy said, adding that the police corps in other countries work similarly.
The planned reshuffle follows up an earlier concept within which the number of the police is to be increased by 4,000, while the final number of the staff is to reach over 44,000, Tuhy said.
The recruitment of the new police is also to influence the establishment of the organised crime centre, he added.
“If we recruit all of the police, I am convinced that the concept will be fulfilled in 2020,” Tuhy said.
The information has surfaced that within the new concepts, the police are to merge two of their elite units: The Office for Uncovering Organised Crime and the Office for Uncovering Financial Crime and Corruption.
