Prague, Aug 14 (CTK) – The salaries of Czech MPs, ministers and the president may further grow by 8 percent in 2017 thanks to a higher average wage in the non-business sphere from which they derive and the raising of the coefficient with which the wage is multiplied.
This will increase the level based on which the salaries are calculated by almost 5000 crowns gross monthly. The president’s pay would go up by more than 17,000 crowns and a regular MP’s salary by 5300 crowns.
According to the preliminary data by the Czech Statistical Office (CSU), the average gross wage in the non-business sphere translated into full-time jobs was 26,830 crowns in 2015, but the figure may still change.
The “pay base” for next year would then amount to 65,733 crowns according to CTK’s calculations. This year’s base is 60,815 crowns.
The salary of a regular senator or a deputy without perks would rise from 65,700 crowns this year to 71,000 next year. Compensations for official purposes and meals on their trips at home would reach 10,600 crowns.
The chairperson of a parliamentary committee would see a rise in their pay from 92,500 crowns to 100,000.
The pay of the chairmen of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate and of the prime minister would rise by 14,600 crowns to 191,000 next year.
The president’s pay would rise from 219,000 crowns this year to 236,700 next year.
The state spent almost five billion crowns on the pay of constitutional officials in 2015 according to the final state account, which was about one third more than in 2014.
As from next year, the salaries of doctors and nurses will go up by 10 percent. Teachers’ salaries are to be raised by 6 percent as from September and the pay of police, firefighters, soldiers and the public sphere staff will rise by 4 percent as from November.
